Since the ISIS insurgency in 2014, an estimated 1.1 million Iraqis remain internally displaced, with 160,000 residing in camps in the Kurdistan Region.
Many of these internally displaced people (IDPs) live in poverty, dealing with poor infrastructure, unsafe housing, insecurity, and limited access to essential public services such as education, healthcare, water, and electricity. Additionally, livelihood opportunities are scarce.
Electricity is not consistently provided, and most IDPs cannot afford the high costs of using generators.
