In Loikaw Township, Kayah State, 1,400 solar lights are urgently needed for two Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps: Aung Thapyay Gone camp, hosting 323 households and Sin Sa Khan camp, hosting 1,572 households.
These camps host over 7,900 residents who cannot return to their homes due to lingering threats of airstrikes. Shelters in the camps are spaced far apart to reduce risk from potential airstrikes and lack access to electricity, leaving the community in complete darkness at night. Residents have to depend on external aid for food and other essentials.
Sin Sa Khan camp, located deep in the forest, has limited infrastructure, making survival even more challenging. Residents rely on broken tree branches for both cooking and makeshift lighting, as they cannot afford batteries for flashlights.
