According to the World Bank on Global Access to Electricity in 2019, 16% of the world’s population — estimated 1.2 billion people, or 200 million homes, lived without electricity. In 2022, the International Energy Agency (IEA) reported that almost 775 million people were still living without electricity. Even in places where electricity is available, many are experiencing brownouts due to different factors. Some brownouts can last for up to 13 hours daily.
In conjunction with mission month in churches, we hope to encourage children to brighten the lives of families in needy countries by purchasing portable solar-powered lights using their own pocket money. The goal is to inspire children to share the Light of the world, Jesus Christ, with those in need. We believe that children are compassionate, and they can be mission minded, regardless of age.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” — John 8:12
Our Mission
Each child pledges the number of solar lights they wish to purchase.
Solar lights will be distributed to needy families by our mission partners in Myanmar and the Philippines.
Parents can motivate their children with a one-for-one initiative e.g. parent adds 1 light for every light their child pledges.
Children are encouraged to save money over 8-10 weeks to purchase solar lights.
Children and parents will receive updates after distribution has been done.

Saving Box With a Purpose
Saving Box With a Purpose
Encourage children to save their money using the Be A Light savings box. Once filled, they can return it to DHD Singapore along with their name and church name. Please contact us to receive the hard copy boxes (unfolded) and allow the children to fold the boxes themselves. Making It a Personal Gift
Making It a Personal Gift
Children can design their names, either by hand or digitally, and then take a photo of their design and send it to us. We will use these designs to print stickers corresponding to the number of lights they have purchased. Subsequently, we will distribute the solar lights with the personalized name stickers to needy families. We will also send the children photos of the beneficiaries receiving their lights.
